When you approach someone of the opposite , are you so nervous about their response you do nothing at all?

This question could be either in here or in mental health. I am so preoccupied with what the woman may say or do, I end up doing nothing at all. It seems like the only women I can talk to are the ones I am not interested in. Viva the paradox!
